The Khajiit are a race of feline humanoids hailing from the province of Elsweyr, well-known for their keen intelligence and agility. While these traits make them superb thieves and acrobats, Khajiit are also fearsome warriors. […] Physiologically, Khajiit differ greatly from both the varied races of man and mer, not only in their skeletal structure (possessing a tail and, in some forms, a digitigrade stance, i.e. toe walking) and dermal makeup (the “fur” that covers their bodies) but in their digestion and metabolism as well.
So, I decided to play Skyrim again, but this time with a beast: a khajiit. And this is where I knew, I had to get quite a few mods in order to make my gameplay experience reasonably immersive. In the basic game, Khajiit are basically same as the men and mer, but with a tail and a slightly different skin texture, but nothing else from the lore article. So let’s try to make our kitten tad more catlike:
Talk like a cat
Thirst things thirst, all khajiit have a peculiar way of speaking, which you can hear from most NPCs in the game… but is in no way reflected by your characters. You speak just the same way as a Nord or Imperial which is absurd. And the mod to solve this is the awesome Khajiit speak – Complete Dialogue Overhaul, and this is the mod which convinced me to start this character. It is funny, great and immersive. So with only this mod, the basic immersion is set, now we can move on to the smaller aspects like having audible comments in your proud khajiit voice with the player voicesets.
Move like a cat
According to the quoted article, khajiit should be feline, both in skeletal structure and agility. To have a greater jumping distance and movement rate, you should use SkyRe. To look more agile, use Khajiit Cat Sprint and Sneak and Momo Acrobatic Jumps. With the two together you’ll be the most acrobatic cat in the province of Skyrim (tricky to install, see the instructions below at Feline acrobatic movement). The only thing left is having cat-like legs and a somewhat more feline walking style, which should be possible with the Digitigrade boot replacer and Digitigrade skeleton replacer, however, after testing I’m sorry to say that the latter, the skeleton replacer doesn’t play along nicely with the catlike sprint and sneak animations: while you sneak, your hind-legs will be floating above the ground and when you stop, you will look like a Indian guru resting your weight on one of your hands. However, the boot replacer works like charm. And you might want to make yourself a Cathay-Raht or a Ohmes you could change your player size.
See like a cat
Now, you want to have cat-like vision and the capability to surprise prey in the dark. Permute 3 15. For this, you should first set the dark nights and dungeons of Skyrim truly dark with the Climates of Tamriel mods (no, an ENB solution isn’t enough, that’s just the appearance, and not what NPCs see) and the Immersive NPCs in the Dark mod. From now on your common Nord bandit won’t be able to spot you in total darkness – well if your sneak is good enough. And then install Predator vision, to be able to see properly with your Night Eye, and don’t feel like you are wearing a military night goggle from a mid-eighties action film.
Look gorgeous like a cat
Final piece for your appearance is to allow others to see your wonderful claws, whiskers and ears regardless of your clothing. For this, use the Craftable Invisible Helmets mod and the Better Claws and Gauntlets. And for your ears, a couple of Craftable Khajiit Earings so you can change them on a whim.

Dec 15, 2016 - Think the vanilla hairstyle selection for Khajiit stinks? Then this mod is for you! Adds a unique, highly detailed hairstyle for male Khajiit characters. Fontbook 5 16. Apachii hair gives some hair to khajiit (like 4 for females and 4 for males or something like that) If you want to deal with like 400 anime hair styles for girls. Personally I'm not big on the mod outside of the khajiit hair, but every single npc overhaul uses it, so. As you aren’t the only Khajiit in Skyrim and might want to meet others, maybe marry someone. The basic game doesn’t even contain the voicesets for marriage, but luckily the More Follower Voices and Khajiit marriage solves it. Then you can choose from Nakuma, Meeran, Sita and Zarji as a follower – some of them with khajiit and some with human voices. And while you are at it, you might as well make them talk more with the Follower Commentary Overhaul. Or if you want a beasty follower choose Wisplicker, the Sabretooth Cat and help the poor thing with a proper Sabrecat follower animation fix.

Skyrim Best Khajiit Mods
Speaking of whom you might want to visit your old home in Elsweyr by the Moonpath that leads there. It’s a great concept and very well done, a must have for any and all Khajiit players out there. Play it, play it, play it! If you don’t care for anything else I write, try that mod!
The last mod I’ll write about is the Moonlight Tales which is a werewolf and werebear mod. The reason you find it here, is that there is an add-on to it with a Werelion skin, which helps a lot. I never new why would Hircine change a cat to a dog pointlessly.
Modlist and installation guide after the video (which is sadly not a showcase of these posts, only a music video about Khajiits).
Mod like a cat
I will make assumption that you have already installed SKSE and SkyUI, and either followed my How to install Skyrim? guide, or you have worked it out on your own. I’ll use the original names for the mods, in case Nexus updates it’s structure and the links break.

FNIS based mods
To get these mods installed you have to install a couple of prerequisite mods and follow this step by step guide based on the john2712’s guide at the Nexus. (You can skip to step 2 if you already have FNIS and / or PCEA installed).
- Download and install Fores New Idles in Skyrim. I would install the creature pack too, if I where you. I’m using version 5.1.1 while writing this guide.
- If you have PCEA installed, uninstall it totally (both deactivating it at removing it from your mod manager).
- Update FNIS behaviour:
- If you are not using Mod Organizer: Go to to your Skyrim Installation directory (usually C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim), and from there to Data/tools/GenerateFNIS_for_Users, start GenerateFNISforUsers.exe AS ADMINISTRATOR. Click “Update FNIS Behavior”
- If you are using Mod Organizer: add GenerateFNISforUsers.exe to the executables in Mod Organizer, run it from there and click “Update FNIS Behavior”.
- Download the latest version of PCEA – PC Exclusive Animation Path.
- Install PCEA, choose the option you need, in my case was the dawnguard-dragonborn-skyre option. Leave it in the bottom of your load order.
- Edit the PCEA mod:
- Install and either add to Mod Organizer or Run TES5EDIT.
- Deselect everything and only select the PCEA plug-in, then click OK, wait for it to finish loading.
- Click in the cross besides PCEA that will open more records.
- Click in the cross besides Race, this will open all the races edited by this mod.
- Click in KhajiitRace, then left click and choose remove. After the warning choose yes.
- Do the same for khajiitvampire.
- Close TES5EDIT and verify the save.
- Edit your load order, and add PCEA to the bottom of your load order – just before the bashed patch and the reproccer. If you don’t have these, than right to the end. Should you use LOOT, assign a priority of 1 and choose global comparison. If you use BOSS, edit your mod list with BUM and set PCEA to be at the end. Or you could just do it manually.
- Sort your mod list.
- Run FNIS, tick the PCEA option before updating and then update FNIS behaviour.
- Donwload and install KISS.
- Sort your mod list.
- Update FNIS behaviour.
- Download and install Bowlegged jump animation Fix.
- Sort your mod list.
- Update FNIS behaviour.
- Download and install Momo Acrobatic Jump
- Sort your mod list.
- Update FNIS behaviour.
- All set, run the game.
Now, it may not be necessary to sort and update so often, but this is how it worked for me, and I suspect it’s better to be safe than sorry. I refreshed the bashed patch and the reproccer too, but that is utterly pointless. But I always go through my new mod check-list out of habit. If this works, be sure to give a kudo to john2712.
